Hi I'm Sophie!
My jewellery journey started a couple of years ago (2022) when I decided to do a local jewellery taster workshop. I have always been creative and dabbled in many artistic ventures as hobbies from watercolour painting to spinning wool on my ashford spinning wheel but somehow jewellery making just completely took over my life and and my mind and I was exploding with ideas of which I hadn't a clue technically how I would make these pieces! I bought a small blow torch and just went for it! I Had an idea in my head of a ring that was like a picture and my inspiration was of my favourite place Blea Tarn in the Lake District overlooking the Langdale Pikes with my soulmate dog Codie in the foreground. Technically for a complete beginner, I was attempting the impossible but I just had to achieve what was in my head! Since then, I haven't stopped making jewellery and have found my passion in life. My inspiration comes from many things - I have always had a deep connection with animals and the environment and feel my best when I am out walking in nature, whatever the weather!. I love the British countryside and our beautiful British Wildlife and from a very early age have had a profound fascination and curiosity about animals, insects, plants.........always bringing home a smorgasbrd of leaves, moss, feathers and the occasional bird skull if I was lucky - it all seemed like treasure to me and I'm still doing the same thing now! My favourite animals are my two alaskan malamutes Codie & Rosie who look like wolves and they inspire a lot of my pieces along with wolves who I have always had a deep connection to and are my spirit animal. I also love foxes, squirrels and otters and have had the privilege of healing and hand rearing many of these species when I ran my own wildlife rescue centre for many years. I love the outdoors..... walking in the mountains, woodlands, moors, by rivers or by the sea. I love fossil hunting and have found some fantastic ammonites over the years. I like to observe the behaviour of animals and insects and the environment they live in. My designs come from my observations in nature and I love to create unique pieces that I feel will connect with the person it was meant to find.
I love to experiment with silver, copper & brass and like using the three metals together as they are so contrasting and the colours are similar to that from nature. I love the many ways that these metals can be manipulated with heat or hammers, how they can be shaped and textured and find the whole process like magic! I put my heart and soul into making jewellery, from designing it and making it, always with the aim of making a piece that someone will connect with and make them feel unique and special.......I make jewellery from the heart.
